From a father's grief — to Africa's transformation.

The Wouapit Foundation was born in 2011 in Amman, Jordan, from the heart of Roland Wouapit — after the loss of his son Wouapit Munshikpu Ari-Jamil to congenital heart disease. That grief became a calling: to ensure no African child should face such a fate alone.

"The loss of my son Ari-Jamil in Amman was the wound that healed others. Every child we help carries his name."

The True BeginningLa Vraie Origine

Born from Loss,
Driven by Love

Né de la Perte,
Porté par l'Amour

In 2011, in the corridors of Al-Khaldi Hospital in Amman, Jordan, a Cameroonian father named Roland Wouapit held his son, Wouapit Munshikpu Ari-Jamil, for the last time. Born with a congenital heart disease, young Ari-Jamil could not be saved despite the care of the hospital's finest doctors. That loss shattered Roland — but it also lit a fire that has never gone out.

In his grief, Roland made a solemn vow: no African child should suffer or die from a treatable condition for lack of access to medical care. He returned to Africa and began using every connection, every resource, and every ounce of determination to help children across the continent access life-saving treatment — at Al-Khaldi Hospital in Jordan, and across medical institutions in France, the USA, Canada, and beyond.

Over the years, hundreds of children across Africa have received treatment through Roland's network — at Al-Khaldi Hospital and partner institutions across Jordan, France, the USA, Canada, and other countries. Ari-Jamil did not survive, but through his father's relentless love, hundreds of children have.

As the work grew, so did the vision. From its base at Man O'War Bay, Limbe, the Foundation expanded from a medical humanitarian effort into a full-spectrum development organisation — reaching into heritage, agriculture, renewable energy, youth empowerment, and diaspora engagement.

A Father's Vow — The Real Beginning

Le Vœu d'un Père — Le Vrai Début

It was not in a boardroom or an NGO office that the Wouapit Foundation was conceived. It was in the quiet, devastating stillness of a hospital room in Amman, Jordan — where Roland Wouapit said goodbye to his infant son, Wouapit Munshikpu Ari-Jamil, who lost his battle with congenital heart disease at Al-Khaldi Hospital in 2011.

"I lost my son. But I decided that loss would not be the end of the story — it would be the beginning of hundreds of other children's stories."

— Wouapit Mbaimoun Nji Roland, President & FounderPrésident & Fondateur

In the years that followed, Roland built a network of medical partnerships at Al-Khaldi Hospital in Jordan, and with institutions in France, the USA, Canada, and across Europe. Through sheer determination — and the name of his son as a constant compass — he helped hundreds of children from Cameroon and across Africa receive treatment they could not otherwise access. The Foundation in those early years was a movement of the heart: no formal structure, just a father's love turning into action.

Bimbia — A UNESCO Site at the Heart of Our Work

Bimbia — Un Site UNESCO au Cœur de Notre Travail

Bimbia is an Atlantic coastal village near Limbe, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that carries the weight of Africa's slave trade history within its ruins. Through the Wouapit Foundation, the preservation and revitalisation of Bimbia became a flagship project: restoring structures, funding archaeological surveys, and partnering with MINTOUL and international bodies to position it as a world-class heritage tourism destination.
